The Karl Lawrence Cab source list reads like a who's who of Napa Valley vineyards - Morisoli, Herb Lamb, Beckstoffer To-Kalon and Beckstoffer Dr. Crane - so it's no wonder that what's in the bottle is as impressive. The 2006 vintage relies more on intricately weaving the different elements from these vineyards instead of bowling you over with their power. The wine lures you in with a forward nose full of cherry and currant fruit touched off with hints of bittersweet cocoa and espresso beans. Those notes carry over to the palate, laced together with cedar, vanilla and spice on a frame that deflty balances acidity and tannin. While it's already drinking quite well, this will continue to improve in your cellar for 5-10 years and maybe more.
