Williams Selyem Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir 2014The 2014 Westside Road Neighbors sings with brilliant red fruit notes of red raspberry and cranberry jumping from the glass. The signature pencil lead and mineral-like complexion are very forward, owing to the rocky, gravelly soils on the hillsides of Westside Road. In addition to the brightness of the fruit, there is a meaty quality which the Pommard clone often brings to this cuvée. Refreshing flavors of Bing cherry and raspberry cling to the palate with tenacity. The mid-palate is subtly smoky and earthy with a touch of tamarind that adds to the complexity. The tannins are robust and compact but incredibly polished all the way to the mineral finish. The sheer density of this wine will require patience.
Paul Hobbs Ellen Lane Estate Vineyard Chardonnay 2013Ellen Lane Vineyard, our small hillside estate in Green Valley, produces the coolest expression of chardonnay in our portfolio. Luminous pale straw in color, the 2013 vintage shows defined aromas of white tea, lemongrass and daffodil. The clean, complex palate is balanced with flavors of baked apple, stone fruit and lime rind leading to a long, memorable finish.
Merus Cabernet Sauvignon 2007The 2007 Merus is a deep, saturated garnet in color, with intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, currant, cedar, and graphite. In the mouth it is rich, seamless, and expansive, layered yet clean and clearly focused. An abundance of black fruit and exotic spice is carried by silken tannins to a long, almost endless finish. Despite its power and concentration, it is very accessible now in its youth, but it has the structure and balance to age beautifully for a decade or even two.
